Lesson 11: Individual or Collective benefits of Hajj

i. Individual benefits of Hajj:



A source of closeness to Allah:



The real advantage of Hajj is remembrance of Allah and His closeness. When a pilgrim offers,pillars of Hajj devotedly in a purified and religious atmosphere, then he gets closer to Allah.



Spiritual Purification: Hajj is a great worship and a person purifies himself by doing Hajj. With accountability of Nafs, spiritual purification is achieved. According to a hadees, a person returns from Hajj in such a state as he is born on that day. It means, he gets freed from sins..



Education of Simplicity: Hajj produces the traits of simplicity and moderation in a person and takes him away from extravagance and arrogance. During Hajj, wearing ahran avoiding perfumes, staying away from hunting develop simplicity in a person. Doing Tawaf saee' and waquf-e-Arafat during Hajj also educate simplicity...



Training of Controlling Nafs: After wearing Ahram, some halal things become forbidden up to a fixed amount. Giving up well dressing and wearing two unstitched sheets of cloth, running between safa and marwa and listening address of Hajj in the open sky demonstrate the practical show of controlling desires (nafs).



Recompense of Sins: As Hajj is a comprehensive worship among all rituals, therefore due to its every act, sins of a pilgrim are forgiven. If a hajji avoids sins during Hajj, then he returns home freed from sins as he is born then.



Source of getting paradise: Those doing Hajj for the sake of Allah are the guests of Allah. Allah's special blessings shower on them and their sins are forgiven. Good deeds are accepted. There is a connection to masjid Harmain during Hajj which is source of getting paradise. It is saying of Prophet Muhammad, "Three people are guests of Allah, person performing jihad, person performing Hajj and a person performing Umrah. In the hereafter, these people will live under the hospitality of Allah".



 



ii. Collective Benefits of Hajj:



Brotherhood and Unity: Hajj is the best show of brotherhood and unity. Muslims from different countries of the world after meeting each other come to know about their circumstances. This promotes the feelings of sympathy and brotherhood and it becomes the source of unity.



Equality: This great gathering of Hajj reflects the dignity of Muslim ummah, when Muslims from around the world free of any nationalism recite 'Lubaika 'Allahuma Labaik' in one spirit towards the call of Allah. Then, they seem an army of devotees to Allah.



Commercial Advantage: An important commercial and financial advantage of. Hajj is that pilgrims coming from different countries achieve monetary benefit through purchase and sale and besides local trade, international business also flourishes which is a source of Muslims economic program.



Pivotal Point: Hajj is the symbol of pivotal point and unity of Muslims. The house of Allah is the chief center for all Muslims when Muslims from all over the world gather in this great center, then it signifies the unity point and harmony of Muslims Ummah...



A Role Model Of Discipline: During Hajj, there is practical exhibition of Law and order. Listening Hajj address in a place doing saee and throwing pebbles to Satan are the finest examples of order and management.



Source of Propagating Of Islam: The world media provides live coverage to great gathering of Hajj and it is broadcasted in the whole world. This enormous gathering becomes the source of propagation of Islam.
